Investor experience of IPOs survey 2014A number of high profile companies and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) have listed on the share market in recent months. The New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX) and the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) want to explore and understand investors’ and potential investors’ experience of IPOs to inform their work in raising investor awareness and confidence in New Zealand’s financial markets.

In order to explore these areas an online survey of 303 New Zealanders who invested in or seriously considered investing in a recent IPO was conducted to provide an overview of the IPO experience. A further 12 qualitative interviews were undertaken in order to explore the IPO experience in further detail, with particular attention paid to reactions to the offer documents issued during the IPO process.
