Interim liquidators appointed to Barry Kloogh’s companies

The FMA has confirmed interim liquidators have been appointed to Financial Planning Limited (FPL) and Impact Enterprises Limited (IEL). The application was made by the FMA in the High Court yesterday.

The court appointed Vivien Judith Madsen-Ries and David Sean Webb, of Deloitte, as interim liquidators. An application to put the companies into liquidation was also made and will be heard at a date to be confirmed.

The move follows a Serious Fraud Office (SFO) investigation into the activities of Dunedin-based financial adviser Barry Kloogh who is the director of both companies.

The FMA sought the appointment of interim liquidators by the court to maintain the assets of the companies, pending the hearing of the liquidation application.

The interim liquidators will investigate the affairs of the companies and provide an initial report to the court within four weeks.

If the companies are placed into liquidation, the liquidation will seek to provide an independent process and seek to provide certainty to the resolution of the companies’ affairs.

Anyone with information or questions about this matter should contact the interim liquidators by phone: +64 3 4748666 or by email: [email protected].

The SFO investigation is ongoing and anyone with information can contact the SFO by phone: 0800 109 800 or email: [email protected].
