‘5 mins with the FMA’ podcast #13: Consumer Confidence Survey

Cover image for Ben Ritchie from our Data and Intelligence team.

Last year, the FMA commissioned a nationwide Consumer Confidence Survey to better understand how New Zealanders engage with financial markets, including investments, insurance, KiwiSaver, and regulation.

In this episode of 5 Minutes with the FMA, Ben Ritchie from our Data & Intelligence team unpacks the findings and explores how confidence levels differ across gender and ethnicity.

The survey highlights key patterns in the use of financial products like buy now pay later, credit cards, and investment products and raises important questions about access, trust, and financial inclusion.

These insights will help the FMA and industry better support diverse communities and design services that reflect the needs of all New Zealanders.
