How to protect yourself from these scams

1. Be cautious of entities promising guaranteed or risk free returns;

2. Beware of entities who claim to be based in New Zealand but ask you to make payments to overseas bank accounts or with cryptocurrencies;

3. Beware of entities that contact you through social media, from Gmail or Hotmail addresses or from overseas telephone numbers;

4. Conduct due diligence checks before investing. If an entity claims to be New Zealand based, verify their identity on the Companies Register and Financial Service Providers Register. Match their website and contact details with the ones listed on the Companies Register.
