With knowledge comes wisdom

It’s Māori Language Week 14 – 20 September and the Financial Markets Authority is proud to support the promotion of Te Reo Māori in Aotearoa and beyond.  As an organisation we are working on how we can incorporate more Te Ao Māori into our mahi.

To mark Te Wiki O Te Reo Māori in 2020 we are sharing financial terms in Te Reo every day of the week on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

These terms are from He Reo Whairawa Te Reo Māori Financial Glossary which was created with support from the Financial Markets Authority and others. Check them out below or view the full dictionary.

About He Reo Whairawa Te Reo Māori Financial Glossary

He Reo Whairawa Te Reo Māori Financial Glossary is a vocabulary of 100 wealth and investment terms designed to help people discuss financial matters in Te Reo Māori.  It was created in 2018 by a project team led by Dr Karena Kelly and Brook Taurua Grant, and which included wealth and investment industry experts including the FMA.  Māori language translators Paetū Limited and research assistant Whaearua Ross also worked on the project.
